The Australian Sports/GT Intermarque Championship 2007

The creation of this series came about to satisfy the competitive needs of competitors who want to race a diverse range of cars. The regulations have been written deliberately to include virtually every Sports/GT car you could name.  Eligibility ranges from cars manufactured by the worlds largest manufacturers to small volume manufacturers from Australia and worldwide. This should create a series with some very interesting cars.
The series will reflect what competitors want from “their” series as the owners will be the competitors themselves. Those that choose to, will be able to share in that ownership.

Fundamental to all this is the intent to contain costs to a realistic level-at the same time seeking to create a professionally organised series that excites all that come to be involved and to watch it.

All the ingredients are there—some of the fastest Sports/GT cars from around the world will be taking to the track in this unique series.  Eligibility will see many cars that have had no where to race currently or have not been able to race in Australia previously encouraged.  At the same time—many cars and competitors that have been disenfranchised by the structure of Australian motor racing will have somewhere to race.  Australian motor racing needs a longer racing life than 3 years for most competitors to get value from the investment that is made in a race car.

This series will cater for a big cross section of competitors and cars.  From professionally run teams with manufacturer/importer backing to the guys that prepare and drive their own cars.  It is to be expected that we will see drivers follow a career path through the category as a “soft” entry can be accessed through the classes.  A class structure based on a proven formula (plus a few innovations) will see cars of different performance levels create the race within a race for class honours.
